Sarah Armstrong, MD
Sarah C. Armstrong, MD, is a professor in the Department of Pediatrics and chief of the Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Health at Duke University School of Medicine. She is also a professor in Population Health Sciences and in Family Medicine and Community Health, a member of the Duke Clinical Research Institute, and co-director of the Duke Center for Childhood Obesity Research. She earned her PhD in health policy and administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Armstrong focuses her research on understanding how severe obesity develops in children and adolescents and on identifying innovative treatments, including digital health tools and community partnerships. She developed and directed Duke's comprehensive pediatric weight management clinic, Healthy Lifestyles, from 2006 through 2016. She is passionate about teaching and mentoring young scientists, and she helps lead the training programs at Duke that support the STAR Program.
