Research Opportunities

During the Research Fellowship at DCRI, fellows will be encouraged to work on a variety of research projects including phase I to phase IV prospective randomized clinical trials that are coordinated by the DCRI.

Additionally, there are numerous observational outcomes projects at DCRI including the management, coordination, and analysis of large scale databases which also could be unique opportunities for fellow participation.

Finally, independent projects such as sub-studies for on-going clinical trials or unique database projects are encouraged, and can be other opportunities for research experience. A listing of on-going trials and registry projects at DCRI will be updated on a regular basis on the Web site.

Each DCRI Research Fellow will be paired with a primary faculty research mentor who will be responsible for helping to develop a fellow's research portfolio, assisting with grant applications and securing funding, and tracking of career progress.

Mentorship is considered to be a privilege among the DCRI Faculty. The DCRI Fellowship Directors meet bi-annually with each fellow and their research mentor to track their progress and ensure each fellow is on track to accomplish their career objectives.

The mentor is expected to assist the fellow in developing a broad range of experiences with different types of faculty, not just to have the fellow work in his or her own research projects.
