The DCRI boasts a leading presence in otolaryngology,
creating project teams that will execute clients’ research
projects with medical and scientific integrity and provide
high-quality results that exceed client expectations.
DCRI’s clinical leaders have had a long relationship
with the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck
Surgery Foundation. This alliance, and others with sister
societies, allow our clinical leaders to work closely with
networks of experienced, recognized investigators who can
provide “real-world” input into development and
postapproval plans. The focus on evidence-based research is
apparent in the study results generated via these networks.
Our Otolaryngology faculty design and lead unique studies
that harness the state-of-the-art testing services available
at DUMC. Facilities include the Vestibular Laboratory, which
evaluates and manages patients who have chronic vertigo, imbalance,
or dizziness. The facility’s test capabilities include
electronystagmography, rotary chair testing, and computerized
dynamic posturography. Also available is the Hearing Research
laboratory, which comprises the Comparative Auditory Psychophysics
Laboratory and the Auditory Physiology Laboratory.
